Perhaps more than with any other medium, pottery is either an art or a craft.

Bend potter Steve Provence is happily in the craft camp. He often will sit down at his wheel and throw 100 bowls in an afternoon, each one nearly identical to the last.

Later, he will glaze them and may get creative....
