Two companies purchase 664 acres in Deschutes forest

The Deschutes National Forest auctioned off timber sales in more than 600 acres Tuesday to two companies.

Most of the land sold is part of a long-term plan to thin about 4,300 acres of forestland, said Marcy Boehme, an environmentalist with the Crescent Ranger District.
