At municipal court, talk fast and pay up

Bend court has seen its cases skyrocket as much as 50 percent since 2006

In Bend Municipal Court, speed is the name of the game.

During a court session Sept. 18, Presiding Judge Lisa Bertalan heard 58 cases in less than an hour.

The offenses ranged from failure to wear a seat belt to dog-at-large complaints.
