Deschutes jail plan moves forward; expansion estimated at $40 million

The final estimate on expanding the Deschutes County jail is in and commissioners Wednesday decided to move the project along by starting the hunt for an architect.

County Administrator Dave Kanner told the commissioners that it will cost the county just more than $40 million to take the county....
