SISTERS — With 35 part-time volunteers and 13 paid staff, the Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District depends on community support.

But the main fire station on Elm Street in Sisters can only accommodate two overnight volunteers at a time. They sleep on a couple of old couches in the back....
