The handy Web site www.thesaurus.com gives me words like authority, leader, master and teacher as synonyms for guru.

Those are pretty good descriptors, too, for Guru, the celebrated rapper who will bring his Jazzmatazz tour to the Domino Room in Bend on Thursday.
