Kimberly Ann Potter was pedaling her black Schwinn bicycle north under a moonless sky along a stretch of Third Street that has no streetlights.

The silver Mercedes Benz slammed into her with such force that she was dismembered.

Potter, 41, was less than a mile from the Bend motel where she lived....
