SMART launches reading contest

To kick off its summer reading contest, the local SMART (Start Making a Reader Today) program will give away 20 books and 20 youth T-shirts from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Bend Public Library.

During the event, 20 children ages 5-11 will be chosen randomly to receive a SMART T-shirt or hat....
