Bend gets its first dose of insecticide

Spray aimed at killing defoliating caterpillars

Loaded with about 80 gallons of insecticide, Dave McCarty's helicopter lifted off into a 10-mph wind Thursday morning, the first day of spraying for invasive gypsy moths in Bend.
