Smokey Bear pays visit to Prineville elementary

PRINEVILLE - It's not every day that a bear comes sauntering into a classroom.

But to the delight of pupils at Crooked River Elementary on Monday, Smokey Bear made an appearance in all three of its first-grade classrooms.

It marked the launch of a yearly ritual for regional fire prevention....
