Controversial Bend shelter hopes to soon provide beds for area's homeless men

Bend resident Bill Purcell, 32, a big man with ginger hair, is a full-time college student, working toward a degree in forestry.

His girlfriend, Sherri Kirwin, 31, works part time at Albertson's and is studying business.

But the couple live out of a truck, unable to afford the high cost of rent.....
