Newport bridge, walkway to be named after vets, slain Marine

The Newport Avenue Bridge will be renamed the Veterans Memorial Bridge, and a pedestrian walkway along it will be named after Lance Cpl. Randy Newman after a unanimous vote by the Bend City Council Wednesday night.

The decision comes two weeks after about 130 people packed a City Council meeting....
