'Everything has a shelf life,' says bear's owner

REDMOND - At one time, he had been a fierce hunter.

Now, the long-dead, glass-encased, 9-foot-tall mascot of Polar Bear Gas & Wash in Redmond is a taxidermist's nightmare.

He is yellow in the coat and long in the tooth, and probably unrestorable, said Dave Standerwick, 45.
