BOSTON - Jacoby Ellsbury's banner season in the minor leagues is being recognized in a major way.

Ellsbury, a 23-year-old outfielder from Madras, has been named Boston Red Sox Minor League Player of the Year for 2006 by the Boston chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America.
