Decision issued for Black Crater salvage

U.S. Forest Service considers allowing logging of some of area hit by wildfire this summer

In patches of national forestland west of Sisters, where the Black Crater Fire killed between 90 percent and 100 percent of the large, 250- to 350-year-old ponderosa pines and nearly all the smaller trees, the Sisters Ranger District is proposing to conduct salvage logging.
