Bend purchased bus fleet plagued with headaches

City may have been misled on maintenance, mileage issues

Two-and-a-half months after the start of Bend Area Transit, the city of Bend has realized it didn't get the good deal it thought it did when it purchased six large blue buses for the heart of its transit system.

Since BAT's launch Sept. 27, the buses have been fraught with mechanical problems.....
