Long-awaited Newport bridge opens to relief of Bend residents

$5.9 million span wider, longer, offers sidewalks, bike lanes

Outfitted in an orange jacket and a helmet, Beth-Ann Wesley straddled her mountain bike at the east end of the newly completed Newport Avenue Bridge, waiting to ride across.

"I'm very excited," she said of the completion the bridge.
