Newport bridge set to open Friday

The Newport Avenue Bridge is scheduled to open Friday after a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon.

The bridge, which is an important connector between Bend's east and west sides, has been closed and under construction since April. Bad weather caused the city to push back the bridge opening.
