Bend's smoke-free policy may serve as example for other local agencies

The city of Bend has become the first government in Deschutes County to prohibit tobacco use outside its buildings, requiring employees to go to their cars if they want to smoke a cigarette or chew tobacco.

It is a trend other agencies could soon follow as the organization that proposed the city....
