Ellsworth "Slats" Slater, of Bend, died Wednesday of natural causes. He was 79.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Des-chutes Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Slater was born March 24, 1927, in Woodland, Calif., to Earl and Ruby Slater. He married....
