There's a place up near the Santiam Pass that typifies fall in our neck of the woods.

It's a field of lava, not the smooth burned brownie kind (pahoehoe), if my elementary geology serves me right, but the chunky, jagged stuff (a'a) that looks the way a lava field is supposed to look. Anyway,....
