Redmond's downtown business challenges did not deter Allen Tackett, CEO of Underdog Coffee, from signing a 10-year lease for a new cafe on Sixth Street across from Erickson's Thriftway.

Like the name of his business implies, Tackett, 29, is a risk-taker.
