Wildlife officials closely monitor virus in birds to keep them off endangered list

Biologists have identified the first documented cases of West Nile Virus in Oregon's sage grouse, a population that state wildlife officials are keeping a close eye on to ensure they don't have to be listed as threatened or endangered.
