Area fires die down

Firefighters on top of Black Crater Fire, set up spike camp near western end

After halting the advance of the Black Crater Fire east toward Sisters, roughly 70 firefighters moved to a spike camp Wednesday night to tackle the west end of the blaze, according to fire spokeswoman Vickie Carson.
