Firefighters repel Black Crater Fire from Sisters

Eight miles of ground torched to hold off 9,000 acre fire

SISTERS - Firefighters kept the Black Crater Fire from creeping much closer to Sisters Sunday, burning a partial perimeter around the 9,000-acre giant to slow its growth.

About 680 fire personnel, 42 engines and five helicopters worked late into the night Sunday, torching eight miles of ground....
