Fire evacuates Bend restaurant

Merenda Restaurant in downtown Bend was evacuated Friday when a fire started in the flue of the pizza oven around 7:30 p.m., according to Capt. Jeff Blake with the Bend Fire Department.

No injuries were reported, and employees extinguished the blaze before firefighters arrived, Blake said.....
