Two severe car crashes on U.S. Highway 97 on Wednesday seriously injured two people, shut down two parts of the highway - north of Bend and near Sunriver - and backed up traffic for hours.
The first accident involved three vehicles and occurred a few miles north of Cooley Road just before 9:30....
