Bend councilors pick transit system's name

What do a BAT, a BEAM, a BEAT and a BELT have in common?

They were all possible acronyms for the city's new expanded bus system that the Bend City Council considered at a recent meeting.

The council finally settled on Bend Area Transit - or BAT for short - as the name for its new bus service.....
