Jim Moores, 49, of Bend, took first in the annual Pond Skimming Championship, hosted by Mount Bachelor on May 31.

Moores was judged on how far he could slide across the water on his skis, his costume and the show he put on. Moores dressed as a fisherman and, while skimming, acted out a routine....
