Road opens for summer visitors

The lower portion of the Steens Mountain Loop Road from state Highway 205 to South Steens Campground has opened.

The opening allows visitor access up to the campground, which is now in full service with fees of $6 per vehicle per night.

Wet, muddy conditions still exist on secondary roads even....
