Lindsey Pickell, a 1999 graduate of Mountain View High School in Bend, recently took first place for amateur women in the half-ironman distance at the Wildflower Triathlon on May 6 in Lake San Antonio, Calif.

Pickell, 25, completed the 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike ride and 13.1-mile run in a time....
