Residents gear up to fight tower on Overturf Butte

Bend neighborhood is home to last butte in the city without a cell tower

When Mike Tapscott heard that Verizon Wireless had plans to build a 100-foot tower directly behind his home on Overturf Butte, he went out to buy balloons.

But, it wasn't to celebrate.

Using the largest red helium ballon the party supply store had, Tapscott tied it to 100 feet of fishing line,....
