Chief not convinced project a wise use of police money

Security cameras will not monitor the streets of downtown, as a proposal made last month to install the cameras in the area was scrapped on Thursday.

The project would have cost $80,000: $60,000 from tax dollars from the Bend Police Department's general fund and $20,000 from the Bend Downtowners....
