County staff get unpaid day off

Deschutes wants savings to retain new parole officer

Most of Deschutes County's 850 employees will get the day off on July 3 - without pay - to raise more than $100,000 for a new parole officer who will monitor about 50 misdemeanor sex offenders, county commissioners agreed Tuesday.
