Board OKs park steward program

Bend panel hopes to build goodwill with park users

Anticipating another summer of heavy park and river use, the Bend Metro Park and Recreation District voted unanimously Tuesday night to create a "park steward" program.

The program would focus on educating park users about issues such as keeping pets on a leash and alcohol consumption.....
