Hospital appeals disposal penalty

State: St. Charles dumped waste into landfill

The parent company of St. Charles Medical Center-Bend on Friday appealed more than $119,000 in state fines levied for the improper disposal of medical waste.

The state Department of Environmental Quality said the hospital violated state law 34 times on 17 occasions between Oct. 21 and Jan. 25.....
