New state tax doesn't faze resort industry

Property owners have had little comment since vacation rental home tax took effect Jan. 1

A new tax on vacation rental homes has barely registered on the radar of the multimillion-dollar resort rental industry in Central Oregon.

The tax, passed by Oregon legislators last year, extended a statewide 1 percent tax on tourism to include vacation rental homes as of Jan. 1.
