Political analysts say Jason Atkinson appears a long shot

SALEM - Jason Atkinson is no stranger to an uphill race.

Or downhill ones, either.

Atkinson, 35, a former professional bicycle and ski racer and a state legislator from Jackson County since 1999, officially filed Friday to seek the Republican nomination for governor.

He joins Salem attorney....
