SALEM - To help build new schools and add classrooms to existing ones, a fee of $7,000 is charged for each new house that's built in Orlando, Fla.

In Auburn, Wash., the school-related fees are $5,287 per house.

And in Palo Alto, Calif., the cost is tabulated at $2.24 per square foot, or $4,480....
