Bend resident Wendell Roberson flew more than 70 combat missions over Europe during the course of World War II

His name is Wendell Roberson, but you can call him Robey. At 84, he's lost some spring in his step, but you can just tell he used to bounce. It's in his eyes. When he smiles, they twinkle like a leprechaun's might.
