Michael Wilhite came from a tightknit Kentucky family, and it was not unusual for him to call his parents, Max and Allison, back home in tiny Franklin, or his big sister Abby up in Bowling Green, or his older brother Matt on the road with the Arkansas Travelers minor-league baseball team.
