Chairlift drive goes digital for safety

Crews may begin weighted-load test on Pine Marten lift by Thursday

In order to upgrade safety, maintenance crews began installing an updated drive system Friday on the Pine Marten Express chairlift on Mt. Bachelor.

The drive system controls the lift's electrical motor, determining lift speed, acceleration and deceleration times and stopping distance.
