City provides New Orleans family a home

Bend uses property it owns for right of way to house evacuees

A house the city of Bend purchased to expand its right of way has been transformed into a shelter for a family of six evacuated from New Orleans.

This week, a single mom and her five children moved into the five-bedroom house the city is providing rent-free for the next six months.
