Timber history, sporting competition combine in event watched by 900

The floating balance beam spun backward and forward, thrashing in the water as modern-day lumberjacks Ed Braun Jr. and Rob Waibel did a running dance during the log-rolling competition at the Bend Log Jam Festival on Saturday.

Eyes glued to each other's feet, Braun and Waibel used fancy footwork....
