Marilyn Burkholder came to band practice this week, proudly wearing her summer camp T-shirt that read: "SURVIVOR: Band Camp 2005."

Burkholder, a trumpet player, isn't your average summer band camper. In fact, the last time she went to a summer camp was more than five decades ago.
