House drops portion of bills cracking down on abusive shelters

SALEM - Tax evaders would have from July 2006 to September 2006 to pay the late taxes they owe the state without penalties under a bill that passed the Oregon House on Monday.

If delinquent taxpayers don't fess up and are caught later, the state would impose an extra 25 percent penalty.
