Metolius Basin thinning could move forward

A long-standing legal debate over whether the Deschutes National Forest can log trees in the Metolius Basin to reduce fire danger could be resolved by the end of the month, U.S. Magistrate Donald C. Ashmanskas announced this week during a hearing in Portland.
