Tom Anderson, 62, president of Carrera Motors in Bend, started the company in 1982, after buying an existing Volks-wagen and Porsche dealership.

Anderson said he had sought a change from his career as a business consultant in the San Francisco Bay Area after moving to Bend in 1978.
