A Forest Service thinning project is taking place just outside Ponderosa Pines, a subdivision west of La Pine.Trees between 3 and 21 inches in diameter are being logged near the intersection of Burgess Road and Ponderosa Way.The goal is to thin areas of unnaturally dense growth to reduce fire....
