Matthew Wallace cruised toward the bottom of the Pine Marten Express lift Sunday afternoon, his red short-sleeve shirt billowing behind him as he carved turns with his snowboard.

He went right by the Mount Bachelor lift, however, building a little more speed before coming to a snow-spraying stop....
